  • The EU Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) set up under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation agreement to advise on the implementation of the agreement, held its constitution meeting Thursday 25 November. It elected its Presidency team with Tanja Buzek (Trade Unions - EESC) as Chair and two Vice-Chairs, Luisa Santos (Employers – BusinessEurope) and Tina Blohm (NGOs - Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung).

  • The EESC EU-Japan Follow-up Committee met on 25 November 2021 to discuss various aspects of EU-Japan relations.

  • EU-Turkey JCC

    The EU-Turkey Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee established in 1995 is composed of members from the EESC and members representing organised civil society in Turkey. Its objective is to contribute to the dialogue among civil society organisations in Turkey and the EU and to issue reports and recommendations to the Turkish authorities and the EU institutions. The JCC discusses a wide range of topics, including cooperation between Turkey and the EU in various areas such as migration, energy, small and medium-sized enterprises and vocational training. This meeting will focus on "Disaster management - How can Turkey and the EU work together?" and "The Green Economy" - as well as other topics such as the "modernisation of the EU-Turkey Customs Union".

  • Voices from across Europe | Aligning science and policy

    In the context of the Sustainable Development Observatory meeting, this public event will explore the aftermath of recent climate catastrophes in Europe and look at ways of aligning science and policy.

    The Workers' Group is organising an Extra-ordinary meeting on 19th November. The morning session is dedicated to discuss industrial policy, where the GR.2  CCMI delegates will also participate.  The afternoon session of the meeting is dedicated to have a discussion on strategic foresight and how the trade unions can use this tool to advance our priorities.

  • What kind of Europe do you dream of? Civil society and the Conference on the Future of Europe

    On 18-19 November, the European Economic and Social Committee held its Connecting EU seminar 2021. Entitled "What kind of Europe do you dream of? Civil Society and the Conference on the Future of Europe", the Connecting EU Seminar debated three issues that will be crucial for tomorrow's Europe. The event was held fully in person in the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.

    As part of its work to prepare an opinion on ''Social dialogue as a tool to promote health and safety at work'', the SOC Section of the EESC is organising a virtual public hearing on Wednesday 17 November 2021, from 09:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.

    Various stakeholders from all levels (national and European institutions, agencies, social partners and civil society organisations) will be invited to share their views and recommendations on this important topic. This includes for instance social partners' agreements negotiated on occupational health and safety, joint guidelines on promoting positive wellbeing at work, including measures to prevent illnesses, exposure to dangerous substances and workplace accidents.
