Critical Raw Materials Act

The European Commission presented its Critical Raw Materials Act in the beginning of March. The package of legislative and non-legislative measures is aimed at diversifying the supply of the materials needed to achieve the green and digital transition.

The proposal identifies materials that are key to the European strategic interests and outlines how to subsidize production, processing and strategic storage reserves of these materials in Europe.

The proposal feeds into the EU’s revamped industrial policy, which was announced  by Commission President von der Leyen in December to support enterprises in contributing towards the sustainable development goals.
