Key points:

  • The EESC welcomes the proposed regulation and accepts most of the Commission's analysis of the expected demand for ELTIF's and of the regulatory barriers currently inhibiting institutional and retail investment in new cross-border infrastructure projects.
  • The proposed regulation has the potential to stimulate a meaningful single investment market in long-term projects.
  • As the proposed regulation breaks new ground in European investment markets, there is a need to carefully monitor its implementation. The EESC welcomes the proposal to monitor the development of the ELTIF market.
