How and who should prepare a plan for the reconstruction of the battered Ukrainian economy? What should be in the plan? Is there an understanding of who can provide the funds for the implementation of this Plan, and how much is needed? What is the possible impact of stopping gas import from Russia? While Europe and its societies are still in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic and with the Conference on the Future of Europe in its closing stages, the EESC will be holding its annual Civil Society Days in March 2022.
Emmanuel Macron introduced the French presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) by launching the idea of a new growth model. This new model should make it possible to create employment, reconcile economic development and climate ambition, respond to digital challenges and rely on a redesigned European financial framework.
On 14 March, the EESC NAT and INT Sections, the Fair Trade Advocacy Office and the Global Competition Law Centre of the College of Europe organise an online conference to continue the debate on how joint sustainability initiatives can be competition law compliant.
The EESC will organise a hearing with the title: ''New own resources package: The three engines for financing growth and recovery of the European economy'' in order to present the views of all relevant stakeholders and civil society for this initiative to support the funds for NextGenerationEU.

The Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) cannot ignore the model of economic governance created by the social economy. Its existence is based on historical foundations anchored in many European countries where it is both a social and an entrepreneurial dynamic. In some other countries, it is the subject of renewed interest. The European Commission is devoting an action plan to it to unleash its full potential. The European Parliament has already dedicated many reports to it, but today it is necessary to take further steps. The social economy must be promoted in the work of the CoFoE, for its values and democratic principles, for its entrepreneurial diversity and for its role in enhancing active citizenship.

In order to prepare its opinion on the proposals by the European Commission on the European Drugs Agency, the EESC is organising a remote public hearing on 9 March 2022 from 9:30 am to 1 pm.
The aim of the event is to discuss the proposal and gather input from other EU Institutions, international organisations and civil society, which will feed into the EESC's opinion.
