Az EGSZB Európa keleti szomszédjait érintő tevékenységei kiterjednek Örményországra, Azerbajdzsánra, Fehéroroszországra, Grúziára, Moldovára és Ukrajnára. Az EGSZB európai keleti szomszédokra vonatkozó fő célkitűzése az, hogy erősítse kapcsolatait a régió civil társadalmi szervezeteivel, és párbeszédet alakítson ki e szervezetek és nemzeti politikai döntéshozóik, illetve az EU szervezett civil társadalma között.

A Grúziával, Moldovával és Ukrajnával kialakított fő együttműködési mechanizmusokat a civil társadalmi platformok jelentik, amelyek a szóban forgó országokkal kötött uniós társulási megállapodások keretében működő politikai szerveket egészítik ki. A platformok lehetővé teszik mind az uniós, mind a partnerországban működő civil szervezetek számára a végrehajtási folyamat figyelemmel kísérését és ajánlásaik előterjesztését az illetékes hatóságok számára.

Az EU részéről ezek a platformok az EGSZB tagjaiból, illetve a nagy európai civil társadalmi hálózatok képviselőiből állnak. A partnerországok részéről e platformok a civil társadalmi szervezetek széles rétegét képviselik. A platformok tagságának összetétele az összes érdekcsoport (munkáltatói szervezetek, szakszervezetek és különféle érdekcsoportok) kiegyensúlyozott képviseletén alapul.

Az EGSZB-n belül a „Kelet-európai szomszédok” nyomonkövetési  bizottság 2004-ben alakult meg a kelet-európai szomszédos országok civil társadalmával fenntartott kapcsolatokért felelős, kifejezetten ezzel a területtel foglalkozó testületként. A nyomonkövetési bizottság általában évente négy alkalommal ülésezik, tagjai pedig aktív szerepet vállalnak az olyan keleti partnerséggel kapcsolatos tevékenységekben, mint például a többoldalú keleti partnerségi platformok vagy a keleti partnerség civil társadalmi fóruma.

    The 7th meeting of the EU-Moldova Civil Society Platform took place on 30-31 March 2021 in the format of a videoconference. During the meeting, a debate focused on assessing the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. The impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the socio-economic development of Moldova was also discussed as well as the aspect of digitalisation in health care in Moldova.

    The Civil Society Platform complements the political bodies existing within the framework of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, and it allows civil society organisations from both sides to monitor the implementation process and prepare their recommendations to the relevant authorities both in Georgia as well as in the European Union.

    The 6th meeting of the EU-Georgia Civil Society Platform took place place on 26 February 2020 Brussels. During the meeting, a debate was held assessing the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement. Constitutional reform in Georgia and occupational safety and health at workplace were also discussed.
