Bank crisis management and deposit insurance scheme. A step towards the completion of the Banking Union

The Banking Union was identified by the Council as one of the pillars to create a genuine Economic and Monetary Union in 2012. Progress has been achieved by the creation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, the Single Resolution Mechanism, and the proposal to create the European Deposit Insurance Scheme.

However, the Banking Union is still incomplete. In response, the Eurogroup  published a statement, in June 2022, inviting the European Commission to propose a reform to strengthen the bank crisis management and deposit scheme (CMDI) framework, that has been recently published.

The aim of this hearing is to discuss on the current framework on resolution and insolvency, supervision, and bank deposit insurance scheme, and its reform.

The event is organised on 23.05.2023 starting at 10:00 and is accessible via webstream. No registration is needed.
