The EESC welcomes the new EU Forest Strategy. Against the backdrop of growing demands on and threats to forests, as well as many EU sectoral policies and associated rules affecting forestry and forests, the new strategy is sorely needed. The EESC therefore urges both the Commission and the Member States to ensure that the strategy is effectively and efficiently implemented.

An interview with Florian MARIN, member of the NAT section of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) from the workers' group (GR-II) since 2020. He represents the Federation of Free Trade Union in Romania, of which he's the president. His work focuses, among others, on topics such as rural and sustainable development, sustainable food systems, circular economy and deforestation.

Event

The EESC is organising an online public hearing to gather stakeholders' and civil society's views on the new EU Forest Strategy for 2030, which will feed into the preparation of the EESC opinion on this topic.

Event

The European Economic and Social Committee will in 2019 issue an opinion from the perspectives of organised civil society on the New EU Forest Strategy: for forests and the forest sector in the light of the Commission's progress report. This public hearing will host representatives of concerned organisations within the EU and outside to share views from anywhere in the spectrum of organised civil society.
