    In recent years, the EESC has produced a substantial number of opinions concerning the fast development of information and digital technologies showing how involved organised civil society is in this "revolution".     In view of the informal Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the EU on the future of Europe in Sibiu (Romania), on 9 may 2019, the EESC, as the institutional representative of organised civil society, sets out its own vision of the future with Europe becoming the world leader on sustainable development. To this end, The Committee calls for a new strategy based on a global, cross-sectoral approach focusing on the needs of the citizens with the primary goal of sustainability.

    This document is the political declaration of the Employers' Group before the European elections. The declaration calls for an open economy – with open markets and fair competition. An open economy must be accompanied by an open society that relies on dialogue and good governance. Europe needs enabling and encouraging policies that stimulate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. The Group issued the declaration to be vocal about employers' support for the EU.

    The EESC will host the photography exhibition "Romanian landscapes of my heart" featuring the work of the well-known Romanian photographer, Sorin Onisor.

    Often called "the Romanian village photographer", he inspires many young people and his photographs of Romanian landscapes and countryside life are highly appreciated.

    The exhibition will be displayed at the EESC from 23 April until 26 May 2019, in the context of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
