Public hearing on how the pandemic has affected the labour market

On 21 May 2021, the EESC's Labour Market Observatory will hold a remote public hearing on how the pandemic has affected the labour market.

The event will examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the labour market from two perspectives:

  • on the impact of remote work in the light of the pandemic, and
  • how the pandemic has affected low-wage sectors of the labour market.

The panel on remote work will focus on the right to disconnect, the future role of telework in human resource management and the mental health impact of the pandemic.

The panels on low-wage sectors of the labour market will try to provide an EU-level institutional analysis as well as more practical insight using case studies from the personal and household services sector, the hospitality industry and the cultural and creative sector.

Speakers include representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the World Health Organisation, Eurofound and the EESC, as well as the social partners and other civil society organisations.
