    The European Sustainable Development Network (ESDN) is organizing the Conference in cooperation with the Belgian Federal Institute for Sustainable Development and the European Economic and Social Committee. The Conference will be an official event of Belgium’s EU Council Presidency.  

    As we find ourselves just over the halfway point to reaching the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, with only six more years left, the ESDN and co-organizers will focus this year’s Conference on transformative policies.

    On 12 June 2024, the EESC will hold a public hearing in connection with its ongoing opinion on Aligning the circular economy and the bioeconomy at EU and national level which aims to enhance the synergy between bioeconomy, circularity, and sustainability by adopting a more integrated and systemic perspective on the circular bioeconomy.

  • Conference organised by the EESC's Consumers and Environment Category

    Join us on 3 July 2024 for a morning discussion forum in the Consumers and Environment category, with the aim of anticipating and influencing the upcoming decisions that will follow the renewal in the European Parliament and the European Commission. This is an in-person conference that will be live streamed on our website. Registration closed on 1 July 2024.

  • The 4th annual All DAGs meeting took place on Monday 18 April 2024 09:00-13:00 at the EESC premises in JDE62.
    This was the first All DAGs meeting of this DAG mandate which welcomed the newer DAG Members, as well as more experienced ones. It was a unique opportunity to gather all EU DAG Members and EU institutions as one TSD community, to openly exchange ideas, challenges, and aspirations. The meeting featured, among others, CTEO Denis Redonnet and DDG Maria Martin-Prat, DG Trade.

    The EU-Japan DAG hosted a workshop: "Promoting human rights and environmental due diligence together" on 9 April 2024 following a Joint Dialogue with Civil Society in Tokyo on 8 April. The workshop's objective was to foster dialogue between EU and Japan civil society representatives, focusing on best practices and a solution-oriented approach in an area of importance to the implementation of the TSD-chapter of the EU-Japan EPA. Human rights and environmental due diligence are topics of common interest, as the EU and Japan share values and want to secure resilient supply chains so as to do business in a sustainable way.

    The Civil Society Organisations' Group will hold a thematic debate on the Nature Restoration Law during its meeting on 20 March 2024, from 12:00 to 13:00. You can follow the debate live via the streaming on this event page.

  • In the context of the upcoming European elections in June 2024, the high-level discussion at the NAT section meeting on 26 February will contribute to set the agenda of the new Commission. Building on previous EESC opinions and events on "The sustainable economy we need" and "Beyond GDP measures", the debate will feed into the own-initiative opinion on A Blueprint for a European Green and Social Deal, based on a wellbeing economy.

  • The 10th meeting of the EU Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) under the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), and second meeting of the new 2023-25 term, took place on 9 January, 2024.
