Nach Ansicht des EWSA kann der durch die COVID-19-Krise weiter verschärften Diskriminierung von Migrantinnen und Migranten sowie ethnischen Minderheiten nur dann erfolgreich entgegengewirkt werden, wenn die Diversitätspolitik der EU alle Lebensbereiche dieser Gruppen berücksichtigt.

Gerade jetzt, da konkretes politisches Handeln und konkrete Beschlüsse gefragt sind, haben der deutsche EU-Ratsvorsitz und das Europäische Parlament den Europäischen Wirtschafts- und Sozialausschuss (EWSA) hierzu um Empfehlungen ersucht. In zwei Stellungnahmen, die auf der September-Plenartagung verabschiedet wurden, fordert dieser die Europäische Kommission auf, einen europäischen Aktionsplan auszuarbeiten und verbindliche Sorgfaltspflichten in globalen Lieferketten vorzuschlagen.
