The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.
The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

Being the first in-person meeting since the irruption of COVID-19 pandemic, Delegates from Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific and EESC Members are gathering in the context of the pending signature of the Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
The programme of this important event for the EU-OACPS organised civil society is mainly dedicated to the role of civil society in the partnership, the joint cooperation as well as the role played by the paradigm of interculturality. A field visit is scheduled to the Portuguese High Commission for Migration, a public institution with the mission of collaborating on public, transversal and sectorial migration policies relevant for the integration of migrants and for managing and valuing of the diversity between cultures, ethnics and religions.
