The participants of the European Entrepreneurship Forum taking place in Bucharest agreed that it is time for a political recognition of SMEs – shifting from "think small first" approach to "act small first" principle.

  • VAT tax reform

    Nel suo recente parere in merito a una proposta presentata dalla Commissione europea, il Comitato economico e sociale europeo (CESE) afferma che un nuovo sistema dell'IVA per l'imposizione degli scambi tra gli Stati membri deve esplicare appieno il suo potenziale e limitare gli eventuali effetti negativi sul mercato unico. Per la sua efficace attuazione saranno fondamentali una maggiore collaborazione tra le autorità nazionali e un'ampia comunicazione da parte della Commissione. Il CESE chiede dei chiarimenti su alcuni concetti e criteri proposti e sottolinea che si deve giungere quanto prima a un sistema comune applicabile sia ai beni che ai servizi.

  • The main SME instruments, in particular two programmes - COSME and the SME Instrument - were the main subject of the exchange of views between the category members and Mr Julien Guerrier, the Director of the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME).

    Il quadro delineato dalla Commissione europea per il crowdfunding (finanziamento collettivo) nell'UE contribuirà a realizzare un'Unione dei mercati dei capitali, promuovere l'innovazione e dare sostegno a imprenditori e PMI in tutta l'Unione: questo il messaggio formulato dal Comitato economico e sociale europeo (CESE) in un suo parere, di recente adozione, in cui esprime pieno appoggio alle proposte della Commissione. Il quadro normativo proposto – un 29º regime destinato a coesistere con i 28 regimi nazionali – consentirà in particolare alle imprese piccole, giovani e innovative di cercare finanziamenti in tutti gli Stati membri dell'UE.

  • While the risk of cyber attacks is growing, most European companies are still unprepared and unaware of the risk. This was highlighted in a recent study commissioned by the European Economic and Social Committee. Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) are the most exposed, as they often cannot afford to invest adequately in cybersecurity. The level of investment in cybersecurity overall is insufficient. Most businesses do not realise its importance until after experiencing a security breach.

  • Brexit, the next EU budget and the future of the single market are the core interests of the European employers' organisations. On 14 March 2018, representatives of BusinessEurope, EuroChambres and CEEP presented the priorities of their organisations for 2018 and discussed the issues with the members of the employers' group.

  • The Commission's proposal on industrial policy is a step in the right direction, but the EU needs a long term, comprehensive strategy: this is one of the conclusions of the debate at the Employers' Group meeting on 6 December 2017. The aim of the debate was to contribute to two opinions on industrial policy that the EESC is currently working on.
