The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.
The seventh meeting of the EU Domestic Advisory Group was held on 11 November 2024. During the meeting, the EU DAG received an update from the European Commission's DG TRADE on the implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development Chapter of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, as well as information on the EU-Singapore Digital Trade Agreement. The EU DAG members also exchanged views on EU-Singapore relations and recent developments in Singapore with Ambassador Lim, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Singapore to the European Union. An important feature of the meeting was the presentation on the labour rights situation in Singapore given by the ILO representative. One of the objectives of the meeting was to prepare the European side for the upcoming joint meeting with the Singapore DAG.
The EESC´s Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) is organising a hearing on the future of EU Resource and Energy-Intensive (REII) Industry, with the participation of many civil society stakeholders.

This second part of the EU DAG meeting focused on the human rights situation. The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development, reported on his recent visit to the country and presented his report, and the ILO made a presentation englobing the labour rights situation. The EEAS gave an update on general EU-Vietnam relations including the outcome of the annual joint meeting under the partnership and cooperation agreement (PCA). In the light of the above, the EU DAG members further discussed the implementation of the TSD chapter in the presence of the European Commission.
During the meeting, the EU DAG received an update from the European Commission's DG TRADE on EU-Vietnam trade relations in general and on the implementation of the TSD chapter of the EU-Vietnam FTA in particular, as well as information from DG INTPA on EU international cooperation and projects in Vietnam. EU DAG members reported back from various events, including EuroCham's Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2024 and the EU-ASEAN Business Council's visit to Hanoi.
On 24 th October, the EESC will welcome some 100 Enlargement Candidate Members (ECMs) in the Enlargement High-Level Forum "Towards successful EU Enlargement" jointly organised with the European Commission back-to-back to Plenary.
