The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

In der letzten (Französisch verfassten) Ausgabe dieser Reihe berichtet die für Kommunikation zuständige EWSA-Vizepräsidentin Isabel Caño Aguilar über ihre Erfahrungen während der COVID-19-Krise. Sie beschreibt, wie sich die Kommunikationsarbeit des EWSA durch die Pandemie verändert hat und Solidarität und Engagement zu Leitmotiven seiner gesamten Arbeit und aller seiner Initiativen geworden sind – nicht zuletzt mit dem Preis der zivilgesellschaftlichen Solidarität. Nach Ansicht der Vizepräsidentin „wird nichts mehr so sein wie vor dieser Pandemie. Doch es liegt in unserer Verantwortung, zu reagieren und ein stärkeres Europa zu gestalten. Das ist die Forderung, die die europäischen Bürgerinnen und Bürger an uns stellen.“
