    Europäische Jugendliche sprechen sich für mehr Sprachlernangebote durch Reisen, einen besseren Zugang zu europäischen Kulturstätten und die Wahrung unserer Kultur in Gestalt von nationaler Küche und Handwerk aus. So könnten junge Europäer inspiriert werden, verschiedene Kulturen zu entdecken und unser gemeinsames Kulturerbe besser zu verstehen. Formuliert wurden diese Empfehlungen für die EU-Politiker von 99 Schülerinnen und Schülern aus ganz Europa, die an der jährlich stattfindenden Jugendplenartagung Your Europe, Your Say (YEYS) 2018 teilgenommen haben. Die Veranstaltung wurde vom Europäischen Wirtschafts- und Sozialausschuss (EWSA) in Brüssel ausgerichtet und fand nun zum neunten Mal statt.

    EESC rapporteur on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Catelijne Muller says the strategy, as outlined by Commissioner Ansip to the EESC's plenary on March 15, fully meets the Committee's call for the European Union to take global pole position in determining the framework for the responsible development and deployment of AI.

    The EESC acknowledges the Commission's Communication Tackling Illegal Content Online – Towards and enhanced responsibility of online platforms as a first and useful step but is not satisfied with its scope. It therefore calls on the Commission to establish programmes and effective measures to provide a stable and consistent legal framework for the efficient removal of illegal content.

März im Auditorium des Akropolis-Museums in Athen veranstalteten europäischen Konferenz. Vor einem Publikum engagierter Teilnehmer aus EU-Institutionen, der griechischen Regierung, zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen und Universitäten machte George Dassis deutlich, dass die Zukunft der Demokratie unmittelbar mit einem friedlichen und föderalen Europa verknüpft ist.

    Bei der Bewältigung künftiger Krisen muss eine stärkere Ausgewogenheit zwischen fiskalpolitischen und sozialen Zielen erreicht werden, um nachteilige Auswirkungen auf die wirtschaftliche Leistungsfähigkeit, die Arbeitsmärkte und die Sozialsysteme der betreffenden Mitgliedstaaten zu vermeiden.     Le CESE a un rôle essentiel à jouer dans les consultations citoyennes proposées par le président français, car il y a une profonde cohérence entre l'action que mène le CESE au quotidien, permettant à la société civile de participer à l'évolution de l'Europe au plus haut niveau, et l'ambition que ces consultations citoyennes expriment. C'est ce qu'a affirmé la ministre des Affaires européennes, Nathalie Loiseau, lors de son intervention à la plénière du CESE à Bruxelles le 15 février.
