European Commission 2017 work programme: Contribution of the Liaison Group

Every year the European Commission presents its annual work programme, translating the guidelines of the president into political and legal action. The Juncker Commission has given itself the leitmotiv of 'less is more', or better regulation.

Civil society organisations are the place of citizens' engagement. The EESC is the house of organised civil society and therefore we very much welcome that President Juncker has invited the EESC to present his view. We furthermore welcome that EESC President George Dassis has invited the Liaison Group to contribute. In the sense of complementary we present the input of our members in the field of their competence.

As the social, economic and financial crisis is still not overcome, more determination is necessary. The European institutions should make better use of civil dialogue, because we share the common concern: how to progress with the European integration project?
