  • As the EU accelerates its drive toward climate neutrality, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has issued a clarion call for a coordinated, fair and inclusive transition. In an opinion adopted during its December plenary, the EESC underscores the urgent need to ensure that no one is left behind as Europe reshapes its economy to meet ambitious climate goals. The recommendations align with the European Commission’s 2024–2029 priorities and address the critical challenges to jobs, skills, social welfare and regional disparities.

The strategy should promote cohesion and the ‘freedom to stay’ in one’s home, align with cohesion policy to reduce disparities, and drive sustainable growth, while increasing civil society participation in regional development.

  • La conférence sur la désinformation, organisée par le Comité économique et social européen, a montré qu’une approche horizontale de la lutte contre la désinformation, mobilisant les citoyens, constitue un pas dans la bonne direction. Les participants à la conférence ont également mis en évidence le rôle que peut jouer la presse régionale en servant de modèle aux grandes plateformes médiatiques afin de rétablir la confiance de leur public.
