The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and Serbia held the 3rd meeting of their Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) in Belgrade. This civil society platform between the EESC and civil society in Serbia was established within the institutional framework of the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) in order to allow civil society organisations on both sides to monitor the country's accession negotiations. It is also a platform to discuss issues of common interest and to inform the public at large of the challenges ahead during the accession period.
Besides the current state of play in EU-Serbia relations and the accession process, main topics of the 3rd JCC meeting were Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom & Security, with a focus on migration, Chapter 20 - Enterprise and industrial policy, with a focus on promoting entrepreneurship, as well as the economic and social impact of industrial pollution and climate change.
Pour la 4 fois, le Comité économique et social européen (CESE) et la Serbie tiendra Comité consultatif mixte de la société civile (CCM). Celui-ci est une plateforme de la société civile, établie entre le CESE et la société civile serbe. Il complète sous l'angle de la société civile le cadre institutionnel de l'UE lié à l'accord de stabilisation et d'association (ASA) signé entre l'UE et la Serbie. Cet organisme conjoint permet aux organisations de la société civile des deux parties de suivre les négociations d'adhésion. Il constitue aussi une plateforme pour débattre de questions d'intérêt commun et pour informer le grand public des défis à relever au cours de la période précédant l'adhésion.
La section «Relations extérieures» (REX) du Comité économique et social européen (CESE) est chargée du dialogue entre les organisations européennes de la société civile et leurs homologues des pays avec lesquels l’Union européenne entretient des relations formelles (par exemple sous la forme d’un accord de libre-échange). Grâce à ce dialogue, rendu possible par une série d’organes bilatéraux et par des avis spécialisés et des rapports d’information, le Comité est en mesure de contribuer concrètement à la politique étrangère de l’UE.
