Meeting of the Rural Pact Coordination Group
On November 7th, the Rural Pact Coordination Group convened for its second meeting since its inception.
The role of this group is to play a crucial role in developing strategies, coordinating actions, and ensuring effective implementation of the Rural Pact. It brings together diverse stakeholders, including governments, businesses, and civil society, to collectively address challenges and advance sustainable development in rural areas.
The Rural Pact is a collaborative framework fostering sustainable development and addressing challenges in rural areas through inclusive governance, community engagement, and targeted initiatives. Representing the EESC in this Group, our members Lidija PAVIĆ-ROGOŠIĆ, NAT Section member, and Stefano PALMIERI, ECO Section member, actively participated in the discussions.
The meeting, pivotal in shaping the course of the Rural Pact, saw the election of the Chair and Vice Chair, the adoption of the rules establishing the structure and framework for the functioning of the coordination group and adopted a policy briefing aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Rural Pact in Member States.
During the discussions, the group, guided by the objectives of the Rural Pact, also engaged in fruitful conversations on prioritising and organising concrete actions. Lidija and Stefano's involvement underscored the EESC's commitment to driving impactful change within the Rural Pact framework.
