Flagship initiative "Youth on the Move" – Going local event - Dublin, 17 November 2011
On the 17 November, 2011, a round table on Youth Employment was jointly organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), under the auspices of Senator Jillian van Turnhout. It was held in Irish Parliament, as a follow-up of the EESC opinion on the Europe 2020 flagship initiative "Youth on the Move".
The core issues of the round table were the following:
- What are the key reasons for the raise of the unemployment rate among Irish young people;
- Has the crisis somehow affected the Vocational Education and Training Sector (VET) which was successfully developed in the past;
- What is the key stakeholders' position towards the "Youth on the Move" flagship initiative (and Strategy EU 2020 in general) and how are they going to implement its provisions.
