Just one day before the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted a resolution calling for Ukraine's swift accession to the EU in full respect of enlargement principles. The EESC supports establishing a special international tribunal on crimes of aggression against Ukraine, and points out that support to civil society must continue for "as long as it takes".

A associação sem fins lucrativos portuguesa Movimento Transformers figura na lista de finalistas do Prémio CESE para a Sociedade Civil de 2022 que, este ano, é atribuído a duas categorias, a saber, capacitar os jovens e ajudar as vítimas da guerra na Ucrânia. A Movimento Transformers concorre para o prémio orientado para a juventude, a par de outros dois projetos de Itália e Espanha. Os três finalistas para o prémio orientado para a Ucrânia são da Polónia, Roménia e Espanha.

The 13th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform took place on 3 July 2023. During the meeting, a debate focused on assessing the implementation of the seven steps outlined by the European Commission and the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, as well as on enhancing the role of civil society in Ukraine's way to the EU. The Platform also discussed the challenges and possibilities for Ukraine today and in the post-war reconstruction, with special focus on green recovery, energy, environment and employment. A joint declaration, prepared by both sides, was discussed and adopted.
This public hearing will gather the view of international institutions, environmental law experts and the European and Ukrainian civil society stakeholders on the EU's approach to protecting and enhancing a healthy environment for all.
