The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.
The 8th EU-Korea Civil Society Forum (CSF) will take place on 13 September 2022 in Seoul. During the meeting, the DAGs will exchange views on the EU and the Korea DAGs’ experiences since the first meeting in 2012. Participants will also discuss ILO fundamental conventions, as well as Occupational Safety and Health in the presence of a representative from the ILO. Climate initiatives in the EU and Korea with special focus on carbon neutrality and green growth, CBAM from an EU business perspective and the Korean Carbon Neutrality Action Plan are other items on the agenda.
The CSF will be completed on 14 September with a workshop on the topic of "Platform work in the EU and Korea" and a presentation on "Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence".
Les progrès rapides de la numérisation se traduisent par des innovations financières, s’agissant notamment de l’éventuelle introduction par les banques centrales de monnaies numériques. Au sein de l’Union européenne, la Banque centrale européenne (BCE) et la Commission européenne œuvrent actuellement à des plans en vue d’introduire un euro numérique, une forme électronique de monnaie émise par l’Eurosystème, à savoir la BCE et les banques centrales nationales, et dont pourraient disposer tous les citoyens et les entreprises en tant que complément aux espèces. Dans ce contexte, la section «Union économique et monétaire, cohésion économique et sociale» (ECO) du Comité économique et social européen (CESE) s’attache actuellement à élaborer un avis d’initiative sur les perspectives d’un tel euro numérique. Cet avis vise à évaluer l’état d’avancement des préparatifs d’un euro numérique, à étudier les perspectives en vue de son introduction et à apporter en temps opportun à la Commission et à la BCE une contribution au débat en cours du point de vue de la société civile.
At this 4th meeting of the EU DAG set up under the TCA, the discussion will focus on practical aspects as well as the preparations for the 1st DAG-to-DAG meeting (joint meeting of the EU and UK DAGs) and the 1st Civil Society Forum, planned for October 3rd and 4th respectively. The EU DAG will again welcome Mr Ignacio Iruarrizaga Diez, from DG TRADE, to further discuss and assess ongoing implementation issues, with the aim of establishing an optimal working method between DAGs, EC and EESC.

Afin de préparer son avis d'initiative sur le thème "Garantir une solidarité européenne forte pour les patients atteints de maladies rares", le CESE organise une audition publique sur le 1er septembre 2022.
L’objectif de cette manifestation est de recueillir des contributions des législateurs, de la société civile et des partenaires sociaux, qui alimenteront l'avis du CESE.

The first and inaugural meeting of the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform (CSP) will be held on 1st September 2022 in Yerevan. The CSP complements the political bodies existing within the framework of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, and it allows civil society organisations from both sides to monitor the implementation process and prepare recommendations to the EU-Armenia Partnership Council and other relevant bodies both in Armenia as well as in the EU.
The CSP is made up of members from both Parties, representing the EESC and large European civil society networks, on the one side, and civil society organisations from Armenia, on the other side.
During the meeting, a debate will focus on assessing the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and the members of the CSP will discuss working methods and future activities of the Platform.
