The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

The EU-Serbia Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) held its 17th meeting on 5 April 2024 at the EESC in Brussels, Belgium. It is a platform established within the institutional framework of the EU‑Serbia Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), enabling representatives of both the EU and the Serbian civil society to monitor the country's accession negotiations, discuss issues of common interest and point out concerns to be tackled on the Serbian path towards the European Union.

The 6th meeting of the EU and the Canada Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), "DAG-to-DAG meeting", established under the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), will take place on 18-19 March 2024. The Members will take stock of the work of their respective DAGs since the 2023 joint meeting, and discuss business and human rights, the new TSD approach and its implementation and enabling positive outcomes for climate and nature through CETA.
The meeting will be completed on 19 March with a workshop discussing TSD evolution and ways of leveraging CETA for responsible, sustainable and just resource development.
A joint statement, prepared by both sides, will be discussed and adopted.
La Commission européenne a publié sa communication sur le thème «Un lieu où il est exclu de haïr: une Europe unie contre la haine » en décembre 2023 comme un appel lancé à tous les Européens pour agir contre la haine et prôner la tolérance et le respect. Cet appel fait suite à l’augmentation inquiétante des discours et des crimes de haine, dont il est démontré qu’ils visent particulièrement les communautés juive et musulmane. La présente audition sera l’occasion d’inviter les acteurs concernés à débattre des mesures présentées dans la communication et de la manière dont la société civile peut contribuer à lutter contre cette montée de la haine.
On Monday, 18 March 2024, the NAT Section organized a public expert event entitled "How to best achieve Europe's 2040 climate target and path to climate neutrality by 2050" to feed into the opinion on the Communication on Securing our future - Europe's 2040 climate target and path to climate neutrality by 2050 building a sustainable, just and prosperous society.
The forth meeting of the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform (CSP) was held on 14 March 2024 in Yerevan.
During the meeting, a debate focused on assessing the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The CSP also discussed the state of democratic institutions and rule of law in Armenia, as well as the implementation of the Chapter 10 on Agriculture and rural development.
A joint declaration, prepared by both sides, was discussed and adopted.
