12th meeting of the EU-Chile JCC was held physically in Brussels on 12-13 June 2024. The EESC members and Chilean delegates discussed the transition to a new framework of our bilateral partnership, under the Advanced Framework Agreement, which is expected to enter into force by the end of the year or in early 2025. They also debated the current challenges for democracy in the EU, Chile and across the globe. Among the economic issues, state of play of bilateral trade and technology transfer dominated the discussions. Members also exchanged views on the participation of youth in civil dialogue, and shared good practices of inclusion of young people in the initiatives promoting sustainable development. Prominent on the agenda were also environmental issues, including healthy environment as a human right, climate financing, and the future of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The JCC adopted a Joint Declaration.

In 2023, the EESC launched its call for an EU Blue Deal, as a new standalone strategic priority on water for the EU. Partnering with Water Europe, this event explored integrating water into industrial strategies and showcased Water-Smart economy practices. Les systèmes européens de protection sociale présentent des déséquilibres, en particulier pour les travailleurs occupant des formes d’emploi atypiques et nouvelles. Cela laisse beaucoup sans couverture de protection sociale adéquate, en particulier les femmes qui reçoivent souvent des pensions plus faibles en raison des écarts d'emploi. Malgré les initiatives de l’UE déployées dans le cadre du socle européen des droits sociaux, des lacunes persistent, appelant à des améliorations juridiques et politiques. Cette audition invitera les parties prenantes concernées à débattre de ces déséquilibres et à recommander des moyens de parvenir à des systèmes de protection sociale plus équitables et de combler les écarts de pension dans tous les types d’emploi.

Le Réseau européen de développement durable (ESDN) organise la conférence en coopération avec l'Institut fédéral belge du développement durable et le Comité économique et social européen. La conférence sera un événement officiel de la présidence belge du Conseil de l’UE.
Alors que nous sommes à mi-chemin de la réalisation de l’Agenda 2030 et des ODD, avec seulement six ans restants, l’ESDN et ses co-organisateurs concentreront la conférence de cette année sur les politiques de transformation.
Representatives of the European and Ukrainian Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), set up under the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, will hold their seventh joint meeting on 5 June 2024. The objective of the meeting will be to prepare a set of recommendations for the EU-Ukraine Trade and Sustainable Development Sub-Committee and the Civil Society Forum, which will take place on 13 June 2024. There will also be a Workshop on Sustainable financing as a tool for Ukraine's post-war recovery.
The EU and Korea Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs) will hold an Intersessional Workshop on Platform Work in an online format on 30 May 2024 09:00-11:00. It will be an occasion for the members of the DAGs to exchange views on the response of Korean Social Insurance Law to the diversification of employment status in South Korea, on the EU Directive on improving working conditions in platform work, as well as on challenges and cases on the ground in the context of platform work.
The EESC´s Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) is organising a hearing on Industry 5.0, with the participation of the European Commission and many civil society stakeholders, aiming at providing a transformative vision for a sustainable, human-centric and resilient European industry.
