The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

The 15th meeting of the EU DAG under the EU-Viet Nam FTA will take place on 13 May 2026.
During the meeting, the EU DAG will exchange with the European Commission's DG TRADE on the implementation of the TSD chapter, as well as on the outcome and follow-up of the joint meetings held in January. Furthermore, EU DAG members will exchange with a member of the European Parliament.
An important feature of the meeting will be the discussion on the human rights dimension in the framework of the EVFTA.
The agenda will further cover priority areas for the current term, including sustainable aquaculture, fisheries, the empowerment of women, and consensus building relating to the ILO. Participants will also discuss the prospects for joint meetings in Hanoi in 2026.
