The Union legal framework for customs infringements and sanctions

Key points:

The EESC:

supports the general thrust of the Commission’s proposal. Nevertheless, the EESC would like the Commission proposal to be more ambitious. In particular, the rapporteur hopes that the Commission’s ultimate aim would be to set up a genuine European Customs Agency, a European Customs Court and a common Customs Code that was applied uniformly.
