Single market – tackling unjustified territorial supply constraints
Background
The exploratory opinion will address territorial supply constraints as a persistent barrier to the effective functioning of the Single Market. These practices limit competition, reduce consumer choice and contribute to higher costs for both citizens and businesses across the European Union. Building on the EESC’s long-standing work on Single Market integration and enforcement, the opinion responds to the renewed political focus on tackling obstacles that continue to fragment the EU market and prevent its full potential from being realised. Particular attention will be paid to the role of enforcement in addressing practices that undermine cross-border trade.
