The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

Para assinalar o seu 20.º aniversário, a Comissão Consultiva das Mutações Industriais (CCMI) do CESE organizará um evento em 8 de junho, no edifício Charlemagne, em Bruxelas, dedicado à análise dos desafios que a indústria europeia enfrenta.
A conferência abordará o papel da CCMI no CESE e junto de outras instituições europeias, analisando a forma como esta comissão pode proporcionar valor acrescentado e contribuir para o êxito da transição ecológica e digital da indústria europeia. Refletirá sobre a melhor forma de o CESE contribuir para fazer face aos desafios que todos os setores industriais europeus enfrentam para se manterem competitivos e atender à necessidade de progredir no sentido de uma autonomia estratégica aberta.
Em 2002, a Comissão Consultiva das Mutações Industriais retomou o legado do Comité Consultivo da Comunidade Europeia do Carvão e do Aço, cujo Tratado expirou depois de 50 anos em vigor. Como tal, é o órgão mais antigo da UE dedicado à antecipação do futuro e ao acompanhamento da transição dos setores industriais, tendo sido criado no seio do Comité Económico e Social Europeu como uma comissão distinta. Embora a atividade principal da CCMI permaneça ancorada na sua missão tradicional, nomeadamente a análise das mutações industriais nos setores do carvão e do aço, o seu mandato foi progressivamente alargado a todos os ecossistemas industriais, abrangendo tanto a indústria transformadora como os serviços.
