The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is the voice of organised civil society in Europe.

The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.

A nossa convidada surpresa é a prof. Danuta Hübner, deputada ao Parlamento Europeu. Na sua carreira profissional muito rica prevalecem os assuntos internacionais e europeus.
Na Polónia, ficou conhecida por «Sr.ª Europa» porque foi uma das pessoas mais importantes para a adesão da Polónia à União Europeia. De 2001 a 2004, foi ministra dos Assuntos Europeus. Em 2004, tornou-se a primeira comissária europeia da Polónia, responsável primeiro pelo Comércio Internacional e depois pela Política Regional nos mandatos de Romano Prodi e José Manuel Barroso (2004-2009).
Depois de obter assento no Parlamento Europeu (PE) nas eleições de 2009, tornou-se membro do Grupo do Partido Popular Europeu (PPE), presidindo a Comissão do Desenvolvimento Regional. Após a sua reeleição para o PE em 2014, presidiu a Comissão dos Assuntos Constitucionais.
Reeleita para um terceiro mandato em 2019, é membro da Comissão do Comércio Internacional, da Comissão dos Assuntos Económicos e Monetários e da Comissão dos Assuntos Constitucionais, onde é a coordenadora do PPE. É membro também do Grupo Diretor do PE sobre o Brexit e preside atualmente o Grupo de Acompanhamento para a aplicação do Acordo de Saída.
