Solidarity with Spanish Workers on the 11th November General Strike
We, at the EESC Workers' Group, express our full solidarity with your struggle for decent housing. The depth of the housing crisis in Spain, and elsewhere in Europe, is vulnerating a basic right to have a home for many. Decent life cannot happen without a roof, and a decent future cannot be built without it.
We are happy to see Spanish people finally contesting a stark reality of speculation and urban degradation, one of impossible rents and even more impossible real state prices. The right to have a home should not be traded for a saturation of short-term vacation homes and predatory practices by large landowners.
We support your strike and your fight, to ensure decent, quality housing is available for the people, and call on the EU to listen to the call that assuring that people can have a roof is a fundamental task of our institutions, too. Homes are for people, not for speculators.
In solidarity,
