Strengthening dialogue and cooperation across the European Economic Area

The 37th meeting of the EEA Consultative Committee was held in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, on 26 May 2026, bringing together social partners, civil society representatives, policymakers, experts, and institutional representatives from across the European Economic Area.

Event highlights

A special highlight of the agenda was the keynote address by Liechtenstein’s Prime Minister, Brigitte Haas, who reflected on the EEA in the current geopolitical context.

In addition, the agenda featured a series of presentations and discussions on major topics relevant in the EEA today, including:

  • Developments within the EEA and EFTA frameworks, including updates on the referendum in Iceland on opening accession negotiations with the EU, and on the "No to a Switzerland with 10 million" initiative
  • The management and implementation of the EEA Agreement in Liechtenstein, highlighting the country’s role within the wider EEA framework
  • The future of the EEA Agreement more than 30 years after its establishment – opportunities and possible future scenarios
  • EEA CC resolution and report on quality jobs, skills and fair labour mobility across the EEA
  • Gender equality and parenthood-related employment gaps, and mainstreaming equality across the EEA and Norway Grants
  • Perspectives on the EU–Switzerland package agreement
