European Economic and Social Committee’s contribution to the 2026 European Commission’s work programme

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) on 19 June 2025 adopted a resolution contributing to the European Commission’s 2026 work programme. Aligned with President von der Leyen’s 2024–2029 Political Guidelines, it urges the European Commission to adopt a forward-looking 2026 work programme that strengthens EU competitiveness through sustainable industrial policy, social cohesion, and strategic investment, while ensuring democratic values, civil society engagement, and climate resilience. It calls for coordinated action across defence, innovation, social policy, and global partnerships to build a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Europe.
