Strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure. A coordinated EU approach to economic security

Practical information

Background

The resilience of critical infrastructure is one of the central pillars of the EU’s economic security. Increasing geopolitical tensions, cyber threats, economic coercion, supply chain disruptions and hybrid attacks expose vulnerabilities across energy, transport, digital, financial and communications networks that underpin Europe’s economy and security.

Building on the objectives of the EU Economic Security Strategy and the ongoing implementation of the Critical Entities Resilience Directive, including Member States’ risk assessments and the identification of critical entities, the European Economic and Social Committee will examine how the EU, together with EESC stakeholders, can strengthen the preparedness, protection and recovery capacities of critical infrastructure.
