Background

Civic and social dialogue is a fundamental pillar of the European model of participatory governance. Over recent decades, this dialogue has significantly contributed to strengthening democracies in EU member states and has played a crucial role in promoting sustainable, equitable, and inclusive socio-economic development.

As relations between the European Union and candidate countries, as well as partner countries from the eastern and southern neighborhoods, expand, it is necessary to strengthen civic and social dialogue as part of integration and cooperation processes. Previous EESC opinions have emphasized that structured social dialogue is a key factor for the success of development, social cohesion, and democratization policies in these countries.
