Background

The aim of this proposal is to better explore how project-oriented policies and smart specialization strategies can be directed towards development of transnational networks involving local authorities, SME's and research institutions. These partnerships are essential for the realization of transantional projects, with the EU funding, eventually under the umbrella of the EU macro-regional strategies. While preparing the next EU financial framework, it is necessary to create better synergies between the objectives set within the EU programming, national planning and macro-regional strategies.

In this respect, the added value of the transnational clusters and of the innovative added-value chains for achieving economic convergence and reducing the territorial disparities among members and non-member countries within the existing macro-regions.
