AIMING FOR BETTER WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS FOR ALL EUROPEAN WORKERS
In times of crisis, we do not back down, we do not blame the least fortunate or the most vulnerable, we do not abandon our fight for workers' rights, the environment or our defence of human rights. We take a stand for the kind of society we want. Our priorities for this new term are based on forging an equal, strong and independent Europe, where both the burdens and the benefits are shared fairly, using social dialogue to set the solid foundations of a democratic and free society.
By the EESC Workers' Group
The Workers' Group has been an architect of change, ensuring that all trade unions are committed to building a strong, democratic, social, and inclusive Europe. Our priorities for the 2025-2030 mandate aim to respond to the current exceptionally challenging environment with proposals on legislative and non-legislative initiatives.
These initiatives are grouped around our main principles.
For a stronger and social Europe: We will continue to promote the improvement of services of general interest, quality jobs, adequate pensions and stronger social protection. We will continue fighting all forms of poverty, supporting equal rights and combating the gender pay gap.
Collective bargaining and workers' rights remain fundamental to our vision for a fairer and competitive European economy.
For a stronger democratic Europe: We will continue to defend democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights. We will support organised civil society in the fight against its shrinking space, discrimination and misinformation.
For a sustainable and competitive European economy: Industrial change must strengthen Europe's economic resilience and strategic autonomy. We support a 'Made in Europe' approach in strategic sectors and include social conditionality in EU industrial funding.
We call for a strong Just Transition Directive and a green and digital transition grounded in quality jobs, gender equality and robust standards.
And finally, an ambitious EU budget and cohesion policy together with decisive action against tax dumping, tax avoidance and tax havens remain high on our agenda.
Our group's strategic priorities will be our tool to define our political demands and shape public debate in the run-up to the European elections in 2029.
