27th meeting of the Europe 2020 Steering Committee, with participation of national economic and social councils and similar institutions

During its 27th meeting the Europe 2020 Steering Committee discussed the status of smart growth in Europe and the Annual Growth Survey (AGS) 2017. The smart growth debate was led by the interventions of Mr Carnaccini from DG Budget, Mr Tomellini from DG RTD and Mr Giovannini, former Italian Minister of Labour with the focus on a performance- based budget, the EU's innovation policy and the interrelations between the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals. The debate on the AGS 2017 centred around the fiscal stance and the implementation of structural reforms.
