Living in peace with nature to drive economic prosperity: the EU dimension

Join us on 2 June 2026 from 14:30 to 17.30 CEST in Brussels for an inspiring afternoon as the Consumers and Environment category of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in partnership with the Directorate-General for the Environment, organises an EU Green Week partner event.

This half-day conference will bring together policymakers, experts and stakeholders to explore how nature can drive Europe’s economic prosperity while improving citizens’ quality of life. Through two roundtable discussions and interactive exchanges with the audience, participants will engage in a dynamic dialogue on the role of nature in shaping a sustainable and resilient future.

Together with guest speakers and members of the Consumers and Environment category, the discussions will highlight how nature-positive models can work in practice. The programme will focus on key areas such as sustainable and profitable agriculture and forestry, innovations in soil health, concrete nature-based solutions, and the greening of urban spaces. It will also explore new and promising opportunities to revitalise rural areas and reverse depopulation trends.

Bringing together diverse perspectives from across Europe, this event will showcase how investing in nature can deliver tangible benefits for both people and the economy. Join us to discover innovative approaches and be part of the conversation on building a greener, more prosperous Europe.

Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English, French and Spanish.

The conference is open to the public. This is an in-person event. Registration closes on 28 May 2026.

The event will also be webstreamed.
