Artificial intelligence, robotics and digital systems for the well-being of citizens

On 21 November 2019, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in cooperation with the Finnish Presidency, the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of Transport and Communication, organised a conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics and digital services for the well-being of citizens, which took place in Helsinki, Finland.

The aim of the conference was to discuss the opportunities and challenges provided by digitalisation, in particular cutting-edge digital tools, AI and robotics as well as the prerequisites to make this happen. It also addressed expectations for future steps of policy making on the European Level. The topics addressed in three workshops were digital healthcare and wellbeing, human-centric digital mobility services and different enablers for future developments. It also covered cases illustrating the current course and prospects for future developments.

The conference gathered together speakers and participants from the EESC, Finnish and EU level policy-makers, civil society organisations, civil servants, trade unions, entrepreneurs and academia.
