The truth about lies: European youth Challenging Disinformation at #YEYS2022

NEW DEADLINE : Applications are open until 2 December 2021

At the annual YEYS 2022 event, students from all over Europe will have their say on disinformation and fake news. The event will take place virtually between 31 March and 1 April 2022.

At the European Economic and Social Committee's flagship youth event Your Europe, Your Say (YEYS), 33 schools (from the 27 EU Member States, the five EU candidate countries and one of the European schools based in Brussels) will be invited to participate in a two-day set of debates, workshops and interactive activities and come up with proposals and recommendations.

This event will be included in the youth events of the Conference on the Future of Europe. The recommendations will be added to the Conference on the Future of Europe platform and will be sent to the European institutions and discussed during conferences around Europe throughout the year.

Background information

Any school wishing to take part is required to complete the application on the EESC's website.

One school from each country will be chosen by lot, and the winners will take part in the two-day online event, which will also be web-streamed via the EESC's social media channels.

If your school is chosen, you may select up to three students who are in their penultimate year to attend, supervised by one or more teachers. The teachers will follow a separate but parallel programme.

EESC members will visit each nominated school well in advance to get students and teachers ready for the online event. These visits may be conducted in person or remotely, subject to the health situation at the time. Documentation and teaching materials will be sent to schools ahead of the visits.

The deadline for applications is 26 November 2021.
