Short-term traineeships

Paid traineeships for short periods (one, two or maximum three months) are occasionally available for university students for whom such a traineeship is compulsory for the completion of their studies. In order to be accepted for a short-term traineeship, the applicants must:

  • be studying at university or a higher education establishment;
  • have a thorough command of one EU language and a satisfactory command of another, one of which must be English or French for operational reasons;
  • be a national of a Member State of the European Union. However, a limited number of nationals of non-Member States may also be accepted on condition that the applicant fulfils all legal requirements concerning work and/or residence permits in Belgium.

What do we offer:

  • a monthly grant corresponding to 50% of the monthly amount granted to long-term trainees;
  • a mobility allowance;
  • a travel allowance (if applicable).

To apply, please submit an online application form.

Your application will remain valid for six months. If we are in a position to offer you a traineeship during that period, we will get in touch with you and ask you to submit the following supporting documents:

  • a certificate confirming attendance at a university or a higher education establishment,
  • proof that such a traineeship is compulsory for the completion of your studies,
  • proof of valid health insurance,
  • an extract from police records, and
  • a medical certificate proving that you are medically fit to carry out the traineeship.

Please note: Short-term traineeships may only start on the 1st or 16th of a given month, except July and August. There will be at least two months between the submission of an application and the start of the traineeship.
