Privacy statement: Submitting a contribution for the web section of the Group on Fundamental Rights and Rule of Law

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) collects and processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data (repealing Regulation (EC) No 45/2001).

The purpose of this privacy statement is the following:

  1. To present the purposes and the procedure for collecting, processing, handling and ensuring the protection of your personal data;

  2. To inform you on who is responsible for the processing of your personal data;

  3. To inform you on the legal basis for the processing of your personal data;

  4. To inform you on the recipients or categories of recipients of your personal data;

  5. To present how your personal data is going to be used by the EESC;

  6. To inform you what rights you have in relation to your personal data;

  7. To inform you on how you can exercise your rights in regards to the personal data you submitted to the FRRL Group;

  8. To inform you on how long your personal data is going to be kept by the EESC;

  9. To inform you if your personal data is going to be used for automated decision-making, including profiling;

  10. To inform if your personal data is going to be further processed for a purpose other than that for which the data were obtained;

  11. To inform you who you can contact if you have queries or complaints. 

1. Why and how do we process your personal data?

This privacy statement concerns the handling of personal data in the context of submitting a contribution for the web section of the Group on Fundamental Rights and Rule of Law (FRRL Group) via this online form.

Stakeholders can submit their contributions, like reports, on themes that fall under areas covered by the EU Charter for Fundamental Rights and the FRRL Group's priorities (fundamental rights related to social partners, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, freedom of expression including media freedoms, the right to non-discrimination, the rule of law) or their contribution to the European Commission Rule of Law annual report.

The online submission form may require the following personal information: first name, last name, email address, affiliation to an organisation or company, country.

Once the abovementioned information has been submitted, the EESC and the FRRL Group will collect, process and handle that information for the purpose of contacting you, or your organisation, in case further details concerning the uploaded material are required.

2. Who is responsible for the processing of personal data?

The EESC is responsible (as controller) for the processing of personal data.
The service in charge of the processing of your personal data is the FRRL Group, (EESC-rights-Rule-Lawateesc [dot] europa [dot] eu, Rue Belliard 99, 1000 Brussels).

3. What is the legal basis for the processing?

Your personal data is collected and processed only on the basis of your consent (article 5.1 (d) Regulation (EU) No 2018/1725).

4. What personal data are processed?

The following of your personal data will be processed: first name, last name, email address, affiliation to an organisation or company, country.

5. Who are the recipients or categories of recipients of your personal data?

Your personal data will be accessible to the EESC staff on behalf of the FRRL Group, via our content management toot (Drupal) and our mailing lists management tool (Microsoft Dynamics CRM). 

6. Are your personal data transferred to a third country (non-EU Member State) or international organisation?

Your personal data will not be transferred to a non-EU Member State or international organisation. As per the EU data protection regulations, they will not either be transferred to any third party within the EU.

7. How can you exercise your rights?

You have the right to request access to your personal data. Also, you have the right to request rectification or erasure or restriction of the processing of your personal data.

Where applicable, you have the right to object to the processing of your data. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

You have the right to lodge a complaint to the European Data Protection Supervisor (edpsatedps [dot] europa [dot] eu) if you consider that your rights under Regulation EU 2018/1725 have been infringed as a result of the processing of your personal data by the EESC.

8. How long are your personal data kept for?

Your data are kept until you request deletion from the database by contacting the FRRL Group at the following e-mail address: EESC-rights-Rule-Lawateesc [dot] europa [dot] eu.
Your data will be deleted within fifteen (15) working days upon receipt of your request to do so on the functional mailbox indicated above.

9. Are personal data collected used for automated decision-making, including profiling?

The EESC will not use your personal data to make automated decisions1 about you.

10. Will your personal data be further processed for a purpose other than that for which the data were obtained?

Your personal data will not be processed for another purpose.
