Background
The EU Action Plan on Drone and Counter‑Drone Security aims to strengthen the Union’s capacity to address the rapidly growing security challenges linked to the use of drones, while supporting innovation and the deployment of trusted technologies across civil, security and defence applications.
Within the EESC, the TEN Section is preparing the main opinion on the Action Plan, addressing its transport, energy and infrastructure‑related aspects.
In parallel, the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) is preparing a supplementary opinion. The CCMI contribution will focus on the industrial and defence‑industrial dimensions of the Action Plan. It will in particular address issues related to industrial capacity, technological development, supply chains, SMEs and dual‑use industrial ecosystems, as well as the implications for the European defence industry and its workforce, bringing an industry‑focused perspective to the EESC’s overall contribution.
