Artificial intelligence has the potential to transform Europe’s economy, public services and everyday life, but turning promising ideas into widely used solutions requires more than ambition alone. To truly benefit businesses, and society as a whole, the EU needs to focus on applying its AI strategy, making sure innovation reaches the market quickly, fairly and at scale.

In January 2026, the EESC adopted an Opinion on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034. This budget proposal comes at a time when the EU is facing extraordinary geopolitical, security and socio-economic challenges ranging from a deteriorating competitive position to an increasingly polarised trade environment which is undermining the rules-based order.

The afternoon session of the Latin America Follow-up Committee meeting to be held on 24 February 2026 will be dedicated to the Gran Chaco. Organised in collaboration with the multi-actor platform Redes Chaco, the network implementing the EU-supported Impacto Verde initiative, this dialogue will spotlight the challenges and opportunities linking the American Gran Chaco to the EU-Latin America agenda.
