Simplifying the transfer of motor vehicles within the Single Market
Key points:
- The EESC agrees with the Commission's aims and supports the idea to establish harmonised rules for the registration of motor vehicles which have already been registered in another Member State. Yet the EESC is disappointed that it was not possible to introduce uniform EU registration, a more transparent and traceable solution.
- The EESC considers the fact that the regulation does not require ordinary citizens to obtain data to be a major achievement. It expresses its opinion that in the longer term, it does not make sense to maintain temporary and professional registration of vehicles.
