Cillian Lohan on the role of the EESC's Civil Society Organisations' Group:
If you are a civil society organisation or if you are an individual working with a civil society organisation or volunteering, we are here to help you reach the decision-makers in the EU.
The new President on his motivation:
Within our group, I don't find another space within the EU architecture where civil society organisations have this standing, where we are able to represent viewpoints and have an impact with our work. That is what motivates me, that I have seen how we can actually make a difference.
Cillian Lohan on priorities for the 2025-2028 Group presidency:
We need to look at what can we make a difference in, from the perspective of our Group. Rather than talking about defence, I prefer to look at what we can do about peace and how we can contribute to peace. And that is connected to building resilient communities.
