Youth Policy Dialogue on COP31
As the EU prepares its participation in the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, in November 2026, the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee, in cooperation with the European Youth Forum and Generation Climate Europe, will organise the Youth Policy Dialogue on COP31 on Thursday 1 October 2026.
Hosted by the European Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth, Wopke Hoekstra, the dialogue will bring together youth organisations and youth representatives from across Europe. It will provide a space for a structured exchange on key climate policy priorities for young people towards the EU positions in the run-up to COP31.
COP31 is expected to further advance the implementation of the Paris Agreement, including on climate mitigation, adaptation, transition, and climate finance, as well as the follow-up to the Global Stocktake outcomes agreed at previous COPs. In this context, ensuring inclusive participation – particularly of younger generations – will be essential to deliver ambitious and equitable climate action.
The Youth Policy Dialogue on COP31 reflects the shared commitment of the European Commission and the EESC to meaningful youth participation in EU climate policymaking, ensuring that youth perspectives contribute to shaping the EU’s external climate action and its contribution to global negotiations.
Some of the youth participants will be selected through an open call running until 30 June. Do you represent a youth organisation, at local or national level, and are interested in taking part in the Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Hoekstra? Then you can apply here.
