Ensuring a Fair Deal for Workers and Social Progress in the 2024-2029 Strategic Agenda of the European Council
Join us online for a joint seminar organized by the Workers' Group and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), focused on "Ensuring a Fair Deal for Workers and Social Progress in the 2024-2029 Strategic Agenda of the European Council."
The seminar will kick off with opening remarks from Lucie Studničná, President of the Workers' Group, and Esther Lynch, General Secretary of the ETUC. Following this, Bart Vanhercke, Director of the ETUI Research Department, will present the latest insights from the ETUI/ETUC Benchmarking Working Europe 2024 report. This presentation will offer a retrospective assessment of the state of Social Europe.
An open debate with national trade union leaders and members of the EESC Workers' Group will then allow participants to share their views and discuss strategies for achieving a fair deal for workers across Europe.
In the afternoon, the focus will shift to the priorities of the various groups and the EESC following the EU elections. Stefano Mallia, President of the Employers' Group at the EESC, will lead an internal debate, followed by a question-and-answer session. Seamus Boland, President of the Civil Society Organisations' Group at the EESC, will also engage in an internal debate with a Q&A to follow.
Lucie Studničná will provide the closing remarks, wrapping up a full day of discussions and setting the tone for what to expect in the upcoming mandate.
