Corruption in public procurement and its impact on internal market

Corruption public procurement

The purpose of the hearing was to contribute to the EESC own-initiative opinion with a deeper analysis of the issue of corruption in public procurement and its impacts, bringing attention to how challenges to the rule of law affect the internal market. The event addressed issues such as corruption in public procurement not involving EU funding; digitalization of the public procurement market as a way to improve transparency; and sustainability as an over-arching objective. It also explored the need to regulate lobbying at both national and EU level and to reinstate the anti-corruption reports and it took on board the role of civil society organisations in combating corruption.
